Typical Scenarios
Version 0.2, on 7 Apr 2009, Etienne Saliez
- Introduction:
- The central point is the patient who may need several kinds of
care during a lifetime, as well global services.
- The purpose of this page is first to review the profile of the
main scenarios of care, by diverse groups of specialized professionals.
- The next step will be to identify the requirements which are
common to all scenarios and to specialized scenarios. Fron the point of
view of Open Source the question is to identify the situations where
software can be shared.
- Telemedicine can alleviate the barrier between the actors of
the diverse scenarios, patient
<---> primary care <---> regional hospital <--->
university center, but in order to achieve that, sharing common work
methods in open source will make the task less difficult.
- Typical scenarios:
- Individual patient care:
- Primary care, general practice:
- First line contacts.
- Coordination of the patient's health. Continuity and long
term follow up, paying attention to prevention.
- Many ordinary
problems can be solved at this primary care level, but a few difficults
cases need
the help of higher levels of specialization.
- Medical specialties:
- Internal medicine, cardiology,
pneumology, oncology, pediatrics, geriatrics, ....
- Technically oriented specialties:

- Contextual and interactive training.
- Epidemiology:
- Data collections for research and
management
purposes.
- Although data collection can be be stand alone activities,
integration with real patient care can provide better results.
- Approaches based on classifications.
